Dear IAB Community,
Building on the Video Ad Matrix released by the IAB Video Council, we have just published new guidance on digital video ad formats. IAB Tech Lab updated its video guidelines in April 2022 to clarify the difference between instream and outstream ad formats. These changes, along with OpenRTB updates, are gradually being adopted across the industry. In Australia, adoption varies, so we're providing a quick refresher to help you stay informed. If you're buying digital video, make sure to read this guidance.
The CY24 and December quarter Internet Advertising Revenue Report was released on Monday, providing detailed insights into the digital ad market. The report showed an 11.1% increase in ad spend in 2024 compared to 2023. The full report, along with a data set containing trending back to 2006, is available to IAB Australia members.
It was wonderful to catch up with so many industry people at our first event of the year, photos from the Sydney Audio Summit are now available. At the event we released two new resources for the market that have been developed by our Audio Council; the 9th wave of our Audio Advertising State of the Nation research as well as an updated Audio Buyers Guide. The Melbourne Audio Summit is nearly sold out, so act quickly if you'd like to grab one of the last few tickets.
The response to our upcoming Perth Market Update, run in association with Initiative, has been incredible—only a handful of tickets remain. Thank you to JCDecaux, News Corp Australia, and ARN for supporting this event.
We've just opened registration for our annual Affiliate & Partnerships Marketing Summit, taking place in Sydney on April 3rd. Our Affiliate Working Group is actively developing new research, market guidance, case studies, and more for the event.
The Sydney Future of TV event is fast approaching and we are pleased to be able to offer IAB members a 30% discount as well as discounts for the Cairns Crocodiles and all Unmade events.
We're also thrilled to welcome several new members to IAB Australia. A warm welcome to Quora, Reddit, Australian Venue Co., StackAdapt, and TechMedia. We appreciate your support in helping drive industry growth and innovation.
