Dear IAB Community,
Earlier this week we released an incredibly important piece of work to help define and provide guidance on what is commonly known as Made for Advertising sites. Following this guidance will reduce advertiser investment wastage, ensure that brands are not appearing in poor quality environments and help the market support high quality sites. We urge all agencies, tech companies and advertisers to review their practices based on this guidance.
In amongst the rosé drinking and yacht hopping in Cannes, our colleagues at Ad Net Zero and GARM released a global media sustainability framework which will play a major role in harmonising how we measure carbon emissions in the media industry so we can reduce our impact and get cracking on our way to a net zero industry. We are working with other local industry bodies to review this work and will be running local education sessions.
IAB US recently published their latest Podcast Advertising Revenue Study, Daisy Smith from Acast has reviewed this report and provided some great commentary comparing podcast ad revenue in the US versus Australia.
There has been a fair amount of coverage in relation to the University of Canberra's Digital News Report which is a highly recommended read. Our Research Director, Natalie Stanbury and myself have been reflecting on some of the results. Luckily in the Australian market we have detailed passive measurement of actual behaviour across news environments from the digital ratings currency Ipsos iris. So, Natalie has provided some analysis on the Digital News Report and added some news media behaviour data to help deliver some extra context for news consumption.
A huge thanks to the 220+ people who attended our Ad Tech & Ops Summit yesterday, a summary of the event and resources mentioned at the event will be shared soon, but we have some photos of the Summit available now. This was again another booked out event, so if you would like to attend our Video Summit in Sydney on 3rd July I would get your registration sorted asap.
More resources and some outstanding industry job openings below.
'Til next week,
Gai
